Ears Heard, a Wristband Spoke & the Lord Moved
One of the most powerful things you can do in a conversation is actively listen. When you go about your day, how often do you truly listen to the people around you? Regardless of the context, practicing intentional listening could drastically change your life—and someone else's!
A few months ago, a friend and I went shopping at a mall. While I was trying on a shirt, I overheard my friend chatting with the shopkeeper. By the time I stepped out of the dressing room, they were laughing, engaged in conversation, and even exchanging phone numbers! I was amazed at how quickly they connected, so I asked what had happened.
Turns out, my friend had overheard the shopkeeper speaking in a language he recognized. Though he only knew a little of it, he took the opportunity to start a conversation. Before we left, he gave the shopkeeper a wordless book wristband, a sticker, and his phone number—just in case he ever wanted to talk more about the good news he had heard that day.
So how did this all happen?
1️⃣ Active Listening – My friend was paying attention and noticed an organic opportunity to engage.
2️⃣ Being Equipped – He was ready to share the Gospel, carrying a wristband and stickers as simple tools to spark the conversation.
3️⃣ The Lord Moved – How the conversation turned to spiritual matters? That was God at work! It will always look different, but He uses our willingness to create divine moments.
Now, imagine having something in your hands that God could use to open a conversation—being prepared and ready when the moment comes!
The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:15 that we are called to always be ready to give an answer to those who ask about the hope we have—with humility and respect.
Will you be ready?
